LYMPHATIC - The forgotten system

One of the system's of the body which is most neglected is the lymphatic system. This system is majorly important and its responsibility is to remove toxins, waste, and other unwanted materials. The primary function of the lymphatic system is to transport lymph, a fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells, throughout the body. The lymphatic system is different from some of the other systems, in that it is not "pumped," and, therefore, requires stimulation from massage or exercise. However, not all exercise is effective; the best type is vertical motion i.e. up and down e.g. trampolining, rather than horizontal exercise i.e forwards and backwards e.g. running. Massage is one of the most effective forms of stimulating this system and "getting it moving" as very few people, if any, regularly practice any form of vertical exercise. In yoga, postures such as a head stand and shoulder stand (only to be practiced by those who are proficient and are at an appropriate level) all help to "shunt" the lymphatic system.
